Ben's Recalibrated Brownies (2024)

These days I find the "Hershey's Best" brownie recipe too sweet and heavy for my liking. After several experiments I arrived at the following alternate formula - enough for one 9 by 13 inch baking dish, or twelve normal-size muffins.

Combine, in no particular order, until evenly blended:

• 4 eggs
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 tsp cardamom
• 1 tbsp baking powder
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup cocoa
• 1 1/2 cup flour
• chopped nuts if you like that sort of thing

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 350F; let cool for half an hour before slicing.
